Welcome to Brain Works
(Formerly Center for Listening & Learning)
"Brain Works helped me overcome the after-effects of a stroke. My biggest improvements
were in my balance, concentration, memory, understanding others in a noisy environment,
adaptability to change and ability to talk in a way that made sense. I'd say that's HUGE!"
-65 year old female
"After Brain Works, our son was better able to express his thoughts orally and in writing.
Although he had not liked reading,. Jack started reading everything - road signs,
billboards, even subdivision names - and his reading level test score went from average
to superior! Thanks, Brain Works. - Parent of 2nd grader

Brain Training & Auditory Training
Brain Works is a center that offers brain training and auditory training to people around the world. The training programs promote the development of the brain, auditory visual and vestibular systems. At Brain Works, we can help most people think, remember, listen, speak, read, write, move, and attend better within a few weeks.

Toddlers to senior citizens benefit from our training. People come to our center for training sessions, or they purchase products for home training programs. We serve people who are learning challenged, average learners and gifted.
Significant skill improvements have been observed in our clients over the years. We measure clients' progress through the use of pre- and post-observation checklists and standardized tests. We can help clients strengthen skills and develop their hidden potential. The good news is that we are all more capable than we think.

Brain Training
We are benefiting in the 21st Century from the discovery that the brain can be stimulated to create new neural pathways. Within recent years, researchers have found the following to be true:
- the brain continues to grow new cells until we take our last breath
- mental skills can be improved by challenging the brain
Specific exercises for the brain can help develop abilities that are at the foundation of learning which include the following: memory, attention span, auditory perception, reasoning, visual perception, and processing speed. Success in reading, writing, math, receptive and expressive language, social skills, problem solving, driving and work-related skills all depend upon the proper working of these fundamental abilities

Auditory Training

During the past decade, there has been an explosion of auditory training programs developed using the discoveries of sound pioneer, Dr. Alfred Tomatis, ENT. Tomatis was the creator of an intricate sound stimulation program that uses the power of modified music to promote better functioning of the ears, body and brain. He discovered that by listening to classical music with scientifically engineered modifications, the following can occur:
|
- The middle ear muscles become strengthened, which helps them tune out background noise and decrease sound sensitivity
- the vestibular system in the ears is stimulated, which often improves balance, coordination and muscle tone
- the brain grows new neural pathways, which can cause better memory, attention span, auditory processing, visual perception, reasoning, sensory integration, transitioning among activities, frustration tolerance, sleep regulation, social awareness, eye contact, mood regulation and more tolerance for food textures, tastes, smells and touch.

Millions of people around the world have experienced the power of the Tomatis' principles by using music-based auditory training to help them lead more functional lives. You and your family can have the same experience.

Center Sessions or Home Programs
At Brain Works we offer Tomatis-based auditory training and brain training at our center and through home programs. Since 2001, we have served people in the U.S. and around the world. Our catalog will soon be printed on the "Products" page. In the meantime, please call us for more information.
